Personality: Lloyd's a generally friendly and upbeat character, although his genius friend often accuses him of being stupid. He hates studying in school and sometimes even falls asleep during class. Despite this, he has an admirable knowledge of crafting things and of Exspheres. He also uses the Dwarven Vows that Dirk has taught him to reinforce his stance on a matter (although in one case he uses one to skip class to check on Colette and later gets in trouble, so yeah).
Throughout the journey he is initially very excited about new things, but loses this enthusiasm quickly when he starts to get bored. He's a bit too bold in the beginning, and has an attitude with strangers where he makes some obnoxious remarks such as "give me your name and I shall give you mine".
Lloyd is one who deeply values his friends and will do just about anything to protect them. He puts a large amount of trust in those closest to him, and is shattered when that trust is broken. He dislikes when those dear to him keep secrets, preferring to share in that other person's pain and work through the problem together.
Over the course of the game, Lloyd more than Colette becomes the cornerstone for the group. Lloyd's the one that tries to show each person his or her own worth, and because of that, he earns their trust in turn. I don't think he ever really leaves anyone out, and even though he was scolded once by Kratos (in the OAV) for worrying about his own fears and his own pain when Colette is the one carrying the burden and suffering, I don't know that it's really self-pity so much as being scared for her and not knowing what to do. True, Lloyd needed to toughen up, but I think his pain is their pain, and all he needed was the resolve to start fighting for them, and to clear up his own indecision.
Not only his friends, Lloyd values lives in general. He doesn't want to sacrifice people at all, even for the sake of the world. When Colette was going to be sacrificed as a vessel for Martel and he realized she wasn't going to be Colette anymore - he tried to fight the system. When he found out Kratos' life had to be sacrificed in order to free Origin, he begged Kratos to work with him to find another way so he wouldn't have to die. There's no good to come of dying. So why die now? He works together with the others to try to create a world where everyone can live happily.
As he begins to wade deeper into the workings of the world, Lloyd's outlook becomes more serious and he realizes that there are some things that must be done, no matter how impossible they seem to be. Discrimination is wrong, the yin-yang relationship between Sylvarant and Tethe'alla and the Journey of Regeneration are wrong. Lloyd starts to seek both answers and solutions.
By his journey's end, Lloyd is described as a "gentle idealist". He has a strong will and heart, but is able to admit his mistakes and to take steps to make up for them. Lloyd also has the ability to forgive people and to look past the world's discrimination and accept people as they are, for who they are, despite what they may be. Lloyd's willingness to change himself for the better, yet to not stray from his morals, may be one of his greatest strengths.
